How it works
- Choose “Another TN profession” on the first step of the builder.
- Type your profession’s title exactly as the official list shows it. The builder suggests titles from TNPath’s copy of the list as you type.
- Type its minimum requirement, word for word. If your title matches TNPath’s copy of the list, you can insert the wording TNPath has, then compare it with the official list.
- Confirm that you’ve checked the title and requirement against the official list.
- Complete the standard steps: your credentials (degree, licence, diploma or experience), the employer, the job, pay and dates, and your duties.
Your letter names the profession and quotes its requirement exactly as you entered them. You get the same editable Word letter, personalized PDF guide and emailed copy as the tailored professions, for the same $99 USD.
What TNPath doesn’t check
TNPath does not verify that the profession you enter qualifies for TN status, that its title or requirement is written correctly, that you meet the requirement, or that your job fits the category. It doesn’t make eligibility determinations or recommend case-specific strategy.
- Generic checks only. The tailored packets include profession-specific questions, duty suggestions and wording checks. The general flow checks for clerical wording and a few job titles, nothing profession-specific.
- Conditions in titles and notes. Some list titles include conditions in their wording, such as Physician (teaching or research only) or Research Assistant (working in a post-secondary educational institution), and some professions carry notes to the list that add conditions, such as Medical Laboratory Technologist.
- Other U.S. rules. Some occupations involve separate requirements, such as the health care worker certificate in 8 CFR 212.15 for occupations like occupational therapists and physical therapists, or state licensing to practise. The general flow doesn’t cover these. Check them separately.

The TN profession list is Appendix 2 to Annex 16-A of Chapter 16 of the USMCA, and it’s set out in the U.S. regulation at 8 CFR 214.6(c). Compare your entry with one of these official sources:

- Your job title doesn’t match a list title, or the role mixes work from two professions.
- The list entry has a condition or a note, or your occupation is licensed or regulated in the U.S. state where you’ll work.
- The role includes supervising staff, or looks like self-employment.
- You’ve been refused TN before.

Common questions
Does TNPath check that my profession qualifies?
No. With “Another TN profession”, TNPath uses the title and requirement you enter and doesn’t verify them. Compare them with the official TN list, and get independent legal advice if you’re unsure.
Is the price different?
No. It’s the same $99 USD one-time price, with the same editable Word letter, personalized PDF guide and emailed copy.
My profession is one of the 10 tailored ones. Can I still use this option?
Use the tailored option instead. It asks the questions that profession needs. If you type one of those titles, the builder points you to it.
What if my job title isn’t on the list?
The list names professions, not job titles, so your job title can differ from the list title. The letter names the list profession exactly. Whether a job is in a listed profession depends on its duties; TNPath doesn’t make that call.
Will TNPath tell me whether I qualify?
No. TNPath is a document-assembly tool. It organizes the facts you provide into templates and gives general information. It doesn’t make eligibility determinations or recommend case-specific strategy. Only U.S. Customs and Border Protection decides whether to admit you.
